Center for Security and Disaster Response

The Center for Security and Disaster Response (SDR) opened at NYIT in 2006. The SDR focuses on domestic and international issues pertaining to defense and crisis situations. The center is involved in the following areas:

Our Mission

  1. To maintain an active and vibrant center of activity that bridges the academic and policy communities
  2. To bring together current faculty, students, and outside professionals from criminal justice/private security, information/data protection, engineer/technology business, and medical disciplines
  3. To produce a new generation of students, scholars, and policymakers that are fully knowledgeable and prepared for criminal justice/private security, information/data protection, emergency/public health issues, that involve the use of engineering/technological applications
  4. To foster and sponsor projects that will lead to the development of advanced polices for enhancing the field of private security, information/data protection, emergency/public health issues, and engineering/technology
  5. To create a network environment that can benefit students and enhance NYIT's abilities to secure funds/grants from professional corporations.
