ECC Softball Championship rained out; Bears finish as runners-up
Old Westbury, N.Y. (May 2, 2009) - The 2009 East Coast Conference championship today between No.3 C.W. Post and No.4 NYIT has been rained out and cannot be made up. By conference rule, C.W. Post is declared the champion, as they were the highest seed to remain undefeated through the tournament. The Bears, who advanced to the championship game by going 3-1 in the tournament, were declared the tournament's runners up...Details

Cesare earns second ECC Pitcher of the Week honors
Central Islip, N.Y. (April 19, 2009) -  Senior Nina Cesare (Whitestone, NY) has been named the East Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week as announced by the conference office today. Cesare, who won all four of her starts last week, striking out 29 batters in 26 innings with a 2.15 ERA, earns the honors for the second time this season. Cesare threw her second perfect game of the season, striking out seven in five innings in the Bears 8-0 win over Bloomfield on Monday. She also threw a three hitter, striking out seven in a 5-0 win over Nyack on Wednesday and she struck out at least seven in all four starts and had eight strikeouts in a win over Concordia on Friday.
