NYIT’s Roth Earns Great West Conference Weekly Baseball Honors Naperville, Ill. (April 7, 2009) - NYIT junior
Mike Roth picked up two victories on
the mound in the same day to earn Great West Pitcher of the Week honor, as announced by the conference office today.
Roth, a junior from Rockville Centre, N.Y., went 2-0 and had a save in
four appearances on the mound last week, with a 1.35 ERA in 6.2 innings of
work. On Sunday,
Roth picked up victories while pitching in relief in both games of the Bears
doubleheader sweep over Bryant. With the two victories in the same day, Roth
becomes just the second NYIT player to ever
pull off the feat and the first since the 1985 season, when the Bears swept a
double header with the University of Maryland on May 5. In both of those wins
Roth didn’t allow a hit and walked just one batter in 1.2 innings.
