Lacrosse Helps Habitat for Humanity Build a Home
Old Westbury, NY (Feb. 8, 2010) – The New York Institute of
Technology (NYIT) men’s lacrosse team recently spent three days helping to
build a house in Elmont, N.Y., with Habitat for Humanity, an organization that
provides affordable houses to families in need.
This marks
the first year that NYIT partnered with Habitat for Humanity. For head coach
Bill Dunn, the experience was unbelievable for both the student-athletes and
coaching staff. “We have done a lot of community service during my time here at
NYIT,” says Dunn. “But working with Habitat for Humanity, and building a home
for a family in need, really made a positive and lasting impact on all of us.”...Details

NYIT Athletics to host WBCA Pink Zone Night; Athletics to honor former Alumni and host Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night
For a third consecutive season, NYIT’s
department of athletics will participate in the Women’s Basketball Coaches
Association (WBCA) “Pink Zone” night on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010 as the men’s
and women’s basketball teams take on C.W. Post University. Formerly known as
“Think Pink”, the WBCA’s “Pink Zone” initiative is a global, unified effort for
the WBCA’s nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on
the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond.
To make the evening a slam dunk
success, the Athletics department will honor all men’s and women’s basketball
alumni and host an NYIT faculty and staff appreciation night...Details
