The Master of Science degree in Information, Network, and Computer Security is a 36-credit program offered at the Old Westbury and Manhattan campuses. The program addresses aspects of security from the network layer up to the application layer, providing a comprehensive understanding of security and its implications on the network, Web services infrastructure, databases, and software design. The specific areas of study include, but are not limited to, best practices in security, network protection, intrusion detection, and hacker exploits.
Admission to the program requires a B.S. in computer science, engineering, or related field (such as physics or mathematics) from an accredited program with a minimum 2.85 GPA. For applicants holding a degree in engineering, an accredited program is one which is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). For those who have completed degrees in computer science or a closely related field, an accredited program is one that is regionally accredited, for example, by Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
Scores from the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) are required to be submitted with your application for admission. International students will also need to take the TOEFL and obtain a score of 500-550 or more on the written-based exam, 173-213 on the computer-based exam, and 61-79/80 on the Internet-based exam. Both the GRE code and the TOEFL code for NYIT are 2561.
