Do you have a master's degree in communication arts?

NYIT's Communication Arts department offers a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Communication Arts. This graduate degree program offers courses in web design, motion graphics,  producing and directing for film and television, online journalism and electronic news-gathering, public relations and advertising, nonlinear editing, corporate communications, media research, media management, print journalism and media writing as well as specializations in:

 

Applicants without basic media production competencies, as evidenced by undergraduate transcripts or hands-on professional experience, are required to take one or more departmental offerings specifically structured to provide students with such proficiencies. Such courses carry three prerequisite credits each, which cannot be applied to the total number of graduate credits required for the degree.

International applicants whose first language is not English may be required to take selected undergraduate coursework, which also does not apply to the degree, including offerings within the English program and/or the English Language Institute as well as COMM 600, Orientation to Graduate Studies.

You may view a description of the program in the graduate catalog. The total minimum number of credits for students selecting the portfolio project option is 34. The total minimum number of credits for students selecting the thesis option is 32. Part-time students generally plan to complete the degree within a two- or three-year period and must maintain matriculation. The M.A. degree must be completed within five years. 

The GRE (Graduate Record Examination) may be required if your composite G.P.A.  is below a 2.85. All applicants that have a composite grade point average between a 2.50 and 2.84 will be reviewed by the department chair.
