Burton L. Roslyn is an adjunct professor in the Department of Architecture at New York Institute of Technology at campuses in both Westbury and Manhattan. Through his teaching, he is educating the future generation of architects to reassert their role as “Master Builders”.
Mr. Roslyn has been elected to serve as President of the American Institute of Architects, New York State in 2009. Roslyn’s expertise in Design-Build is recognized nationally where he has become a significant resource to the profession and has delivered papers and published articles on Architect Led Design Build and Project Management.
Mr. Roslyn is Principal of Roslyn Consultants, LLC, an Architecture and Project Management firm in Long Island. He has been in practice for over 30 years and his practice and advocacy impact the profession by promoting “Design Excellence” in the Design Build process.
Roslyn’s foremost accomplishment has been as pioneer, advocate for and active practitioner in what are the new paradigms: Integrated Project Delivery and Architect led Design Build, and has dedicated his practice to the development of an atmosphere where the architect is recognized as the true leader in the process of Design Build. His position paper for AIANYS has become the foundation for the association’s legislative campaign for approval of Design Build in New York State.
He has created an environment where the Architect is returned to the role of “Master Builder”. In his own practice he acts as designer, builder, consultant and client representative creating quality Design Build projects. Roslyn has helped produce Design Build projects nationwide ranging from commercial offices to an international retreat center each incorporating many of the principles of Integrated Project Delivery.
His expertise has been recognized with his appointment to the advisory group being formed for the knowledge community on construction administration. He served on the AIA Knowledge Community on Design Build where he helped shape the national dialogue.
He is involved in his community’s activities as Trustee and Building Committee member for the renovation of the Shelter Rock Public Library; and as Building chair for the Old Westbury Hebrew Congregation $10 million dollar addition and renovation.
