There was an exhibition of the studio work of the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) graduate students in Urban and Regional Design at the Port Jefferson Village Center November 17 to November 26. The student’s designs have been incorporated into the Port Jefferson Station Hamlet Study for the Town of Brookhaven in Suffolk County, under the Direction of Dr. Lee Koppelman, Director of the Center for Regional Policy Studies at Stony Brook University. The designs also include sustainable transit oriented development proposals for the area surrounding the Long Island Railroad (LIRR) train station in upper Port Jefferson. The studio was taught by Professor Michael Schwarting.
The exhibition also includes housing design projects at the LIRR by undergraduate students of the NYIT School of Architecture in a housing studio taught by Professor Michele Bertomen and Prof. Tu Huijun from the College of Architecture and Urban Planning, Tonji University, China.
