The FRIENDS of NYIT School of Architecture and Design have selected their 2012-2013 annual scholarship winners. Each of the following students will receive a $1,500 scholarship:
The awards are granted based on merit and recognize well-rounded, hardworking students who perform well in their area of study. Recipients have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and receive a positive endorsement from their advisor and/or another faculty member. FRIENDS scholarships are available to Bachelor of Architecture students entering their fifth year and interior design, construction administration, and architecture students entering their fourth year. To qualify, all applicants must be full-time students, submit a brief essay, and complete an application form. This year's essay topic was "If you ran your own firm, how would best you best manage your practice in this highly competitive environment?" Students were also chosen based on a high level of design and presentation of their selected project submissions.
There will be an awards presentation on Tuesday, Oct. 9 at the NYIT de Seversky Mansion as part of the FRIENDS lecture featuring visionary architect Ronald A. Altoon. The scholarship recipients will join Altoon and the FRIENDS for dinner prior to the lecture.
