NYIT students, alumni, and faculty members from the School of Architecture and Design are working with the Nassau County (N.Y.) Office of Emergency Management to aid residents dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. An organizational meeting for students interested in participating in such efforts will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 12:45-2:10 p.m. at the Edward Guiliano Global Center, 1855 Broadway, 11th floor, NYIT-Manhattan.
In addition, a workshop will be held the week of Dec. 3 to review building department requirements for rebuilding, and a competition is planned to design resilient prototypes needed for coastal communities on Long Island.
