Students from NYIT's School of Architecture and Design met with Joe Higgins, Director of PAL Boxing in Freeport, NY, on March 7 to discuss ideas for the renovation and expansion of his existing training facility in Northeast Park. The non-profit PAL Boxing provides an after school athletic and academic program for Freeport teens, and has produced several Golden Gloves champions and Olympic contenders. Working in teams of three, students will develop designs for the project, with a competition to decide the winning scheme. The students, together with adjunct professors Giovanni Santamaria and Janet Fink, have volunteered for this community service learning project
