Architecture students in Assistant Professor Jason Van Nest's intermediate software course collaborated on a final project to design a building information model for Grant's Tomb, also known as the General Grant National Memorial in Riverside Park, New York City. Their design features a coffer, a square or polygonal ornamental sunken panel used in a series as decoration for a ceiling or vault. The collaborative design by the 11 students was praised on Buildz blog written by Zach Kron, an architectural designer and software analyst for Autodesk, a leading company in 3-D design, engineering, and entertainment software. NYIT students involved in the project included Samuel Blythe, Vinny Ciaramella, Jonathan Collado, Brian Connor, Labibe Drailby, Sanjay Effs, Miriam Hubbard, Aaron Kirchhoff, Steve Ricca, Alfonso Rodriguez, Lowell Stephans, Ted Solages, and Mark Viggiano.
