Math Placement

Students are placed into math based on the results from their placement exam.  Students must register for the math course that is required for their major, however not all students place into the first math course required for their major.

For information about how to advise for each program, please review Math by Major

Important Tips

  • If a student receives a PR in MATH-101, they must repeat the course. They should not progress to the next math.

  • Students who placed into MATH-101 and receive a B or lower in the course, should not be advised to take MATH-141 (if MATH-141 is required). Instead, students should be advised to take TMAT-135. Once students complete TMAT-135 and the subsequent TMAT-155, they will have met their requirement for MATH-141.

  • TMAT-135 +TMAT-155 = MATH-141

If you require placement exam results, please contact aec@nyit.edu. Access via PeopleSoft will be coming soon.
