Teaching, Value, Careers

Inspired Teaching

At NYIT, teaching is about inspiring. Our faculty members are teacher-scholars who create a community of learners and professionals who share a passion for practical education. Building partnerships across all of NYIT's campuses in New York and abroad, NYIT professors act as mentors to each individual student while encouraging active learning and student teamwork, while fostering collaborative work environments.

Professors at NYIT aren’t just instructors—they’re lifelong learners and experts in their fields who are also active outside of the classroom. They’re published professionals, speakers for their industries, and respected among their peers. They bring this knowledge to their courses, and impart relevant, career-centered, and technologically driven lessons that bring value beyond college. Take a look at their recent achievements here.

Exceptional Value

Since 1955, NYIT’s mission has focused on three things:  1) providing career-oriented professional education to all qualified individuals, 2) giving all qualified students access to opportunity and 3) supporting research that benefits the greater world.

At NYIT, we make an immense effort to keep our tuition one of the lowest of any private college or university in New York. And we supplement our extraordinary tuition rates with generous financial aid, ranging from offering NYIT-sponsored aid and scholarships to assisting you in obtaining local, state, and federal funding. In fact, 80 percent of our students are recipients of the $35 million that NYIT offers each year in aid. Our scholarships and financial aid programs, along with the strength of our inspired professors and 21st-century profession-ready majors, make NYIT a truly exceptional value.

Rewarding Careers

NYIT’s emphasis is on practical, career-oriented professional education, one of the most important parts of our mission statement. We prepare our students for rewarding careers and offer every advantage to help them realize their goals. That's why, at the time of graduation, nine out of 10 students have a job in their field or are continuing their studies in esteemed graduate programs.

Our many services include lifetime career planning assistance, alumni mentoring programs, and connecting our students with employers via campus visits and teleconferences. NYIT helps students find jobs via Career Net, an online job and internship database featuring organizations actively recruiting NYIT graduates. The Office of Career Services' latest initiatives include offering low-cost student business cards to help provide a professional first impression to employers and the Career Cab, a job fair prep initiative modeled after the popular Cash Cab trivia show. A rich assortment of online career planning tools and databases is also available to our students and alumni.
