Undergraduate Admission Requirements


  • High school average of at least 60
  • Receive minimum score of 6.0 (IELTS), 79 (TOEFL IBT), or fulfill the requirements of on-campus testing
  • If you have received an International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), you need to have a minimum of seven subjects in math, science, social studies, and language with an average grade of C or better.

Submit the required application materials

  • Official transcripts from grades 9 – 12
  • Proof of high school graduation
  • Ministry of Higher Education Equivalency Letter (if your previous qualification was obtained from an institution outside the UAE)
  • Provide a copy of your passport or national identification card.

Graduate Admission Requirements


  • Receive minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Hold the equivalency of a bachelor’s degree from the Ministry of Higher Education in Abu Dhabi
  • Receive minimum score of 6.0 (IELTS), 79 (TOEFL IBT), or fulfill the requirements of on-campus testing
  • Take the GRE at the discretion of the department (for Internet, Network, and Computer Security, M.S. only)

Admission Requirements

Master of Business Administration, M.B.A and M.B.A. with Finance concentration


  • Hold a four-year bachelor's degree or its equivalent from an accredited college or university.
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).
  • Receive a minimum score of 6.0 (IELTS) or 79 (TOEFL IBT) for admission.
  • You will automatically be considered for available scholarships upon admission.
  • The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), conducted by the Educational Testing Service, is not a requirement for admission, but may be submitted towards fulfillment of the M.B.A. admissions criteria.

The M.B.A. program consists of waivable and non-waivable courses:


  • Students who have completed an undergraduate degree in the past five years may apply to transfer up to 18 credits of waivable courses. In order to waive a course, you must demonstrate that you have successfully completed an equivalent course at an accredited four-year institution prior to enrolling at NYIT. If a course is not waived, it must be completed as part of  NYIT’s M.B.A. program.
  • Up to nine transfer credits from an accredited graduate program may be granted to students for elective courses with a grade of B or equivalent.

Energy Management, M.S.


  • Hold a four-year bachelor's degree or its equivalent from an accredited college or university, within the field of Engineering and/or Science.
  • In special circumstances other majors, including Economics, Management, Architecture or Liberal Arts may be considered with a minimum set of following pre-requisite courses:
    • PHYS-115 Humanity and the Physical Universe (3 credits)
    • ECON-101 Basic Economics (3 credits)
    • IENG-245 Statistical Design I (3 credits)
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.85 (on a 4.0 scale).
  • International students are required to demonstrate English proficiency by submitting minimum score of 6.5 (IELTS) or 88 (TOEFL IBT) for admission.
  • Take the GRE at the discretion of the department.

Information, Network, and Computer Security, M.S.


  • Hold a four-year bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in computer  science, information technology, engineering, math, or a related field from an appropriately accredited college or university.
  • Have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.85 (out of 4.0) or equivalent.
  • Receive a minimum score of 6.5 (IELTS), 88 (TOEFL IBT), or the equivalent for admission. Graduates from North American institutions and other English speaking countries may be exempt from English proficiency testing.
  • Take the GRE at the discretion of the department.

Instructional Technology, Educators, M.S. / Instructional Technology, Trainers, M.S.


  • Hold a four-year bachelor's degree or its equivalent from an accredited college or university.
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).
  • Candidates must be able to demonstrate proficiency in basic uses of classroom technology. In the event that they do not have these skills, program faculty will recommend appropriate prerequisite courses to be taken before beginning the program of study.
  • International students are required to demonstrate English proficiency by submitting minimum score of 6.5 (IELTS) or 88 (TOEFL IBT) for admission.

  • Copy of submitted application and application fee.
  • Copy of undergraduate transcripts for all schools attended. Waivers and transfer credits for prior college work will not be awarded without official transcripts and submission of course outlines and descriptions.
  • Copy of college diploma or proof of degree.
  • Copy of IELTS or TOEFL score for international students.
  • Resume or C.V. (1-2) and Statement of Purpose or Letter of Intent are strongly recommended for students applying for the M.B.A. program.

    • Additional Information for International Students


      Tuition Deposit
      International students are required to pay a tuition deposit for the first three credit hours before the issuance of an official letter of acceptance to NYIT-Vancouver's graduate programs. The amount is refundable only if the official proof of a Canadian Study Permit rejection is submitted.


      Full-time Status
      International students must maintain their full-time status by taking the minimum required credit hours per semester/year. M.B.A. students must take at least 7.5 credits per term (22.5 credits per year) and M.S.-INCS students must take a minimum of 15 credits each year.


      Off-Campus and Post-Graduation Work Permits
      International students at NYIT-Vancouver are eligible for off-campus and post-graduation work permits.


      Canadian Study Permits
      Obtain a study permit from the Department of Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC). This is for applicants who are not Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada. Receiving a study permit may take a several weeks, so we encourage you to apply in advance.

Check Your Application Status

Throughout the admission process, you can check on the status of your application. We will communicate with you through the Application Portal and via email regarding missing documents required for your application. If you did not apply through NYIT’s Online Application, please register for an account to check to your status. If your status says “incomplete,” then we are not able to review your application for admission until all required documents are received. If you recently submitted these items, please allow 2-4 weeks for us to process these materials.
