Selecting Your Classes
Selecting classes for your first semester at NYIT: What should your class schedule include? How do you know which courses are right for your major? Will they be too difficult at the beginning?
Relax ... We make it easy for you. Here is how your first-semester schedule is created:
- You and your Student Solutions manager will review the results of your placement exams and the requirements for your chosen major, and any aspects of your personal life (such as a job, athletics, commute) that need to be taken into consideration.
- Together, you will register for your first-semester classes using NYITConnect, NYIT's online student resource. Your classes will be introductory and fulfill basic requirements toward your degree.
- You'll be assigned an advisor based on your major. In future semesters, your advisor will guide you in choosing the right classes to fulfill all the requirements you need.
- If you have any questions, before or after you begin classes, contact the Student Solutions Center at 516.686.7878 or get in touch with the department chairperson for your major listed in the NYIT Directory.
AP credit: To receive AP credit, you must have achieved a 3 or better on the AP test and an official score report must be received by NYIT from the College Board. NYIT’s College Board code is 2561.
Transfer credit: To receive transfer credit, you must submit a final, official transcript from any of the previous colleges or universities you have attended.
