The ceremony will feature speeches and the awarding of honorary degrees. Graduates are asked to stand in groups, and degrees are conferred by President Edward Guiliano. The ceremony begins at 9:30 a.m. and ends at 11:30 a.m.
School Commencements
All graduates will then proceed to their respective school commencements, which will begin at noon. The ceremonies recognize graduates individually; diplomas, honors, and awards are conferred.

Main Commencement
- The main commencement will feature speeches and the awarding of honorary degrees. Graduates are asked to stand in groups, and degrees are conferred by President Edward Guiliano.
- The processional begins at 9:30 a.m. The ceremony runs approximately two hours.
- Degree candidates should arrive on campus fully robed by 8:30 a.m. and report to President’s Stadium for assembly. Degree candidates will line up behind their school banners and march together into the main tent.

Each candidate will receive a maximum of four guest tickets. If you plan to attend commencement, you must R.S.V.P. and reserve your tickets online beginning Wednesday, March 5.
- Guests should proceed directly to the designated guest seating area in the main tent. Tickets must be presented at the gate to gain admittance. Only guests with a ticket will be admitted. Each person requiring a seat will be counted as a ticket, including children. Seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
- Refreshments are available for purchase at various locations from 8:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. However, food and beverages are prohibited in all tents.
- Professional photographers will be at President’s Stadium from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. and during school commencements to take photos of individual degree candidates.
- During the ceremony, degree candidates will be grouped in accordance with their academic fields of study. Please be aware, candidates are NOT individually recognized at the main commencement.
- At the conclusion of the ceremony, the platform party will march from the tent, followed by NYIT’s newest graduates, who will proceed to their respective school commencements, which begin at noon.
- The ceremony will be broadcast live on the Internet at www.nyit.edu beginning at 9:30 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on Sunday, May 18.
School Commencements
- Upon completion of the main commencement, graduates and guests will proceed to school commencement tents. All tents are color-coded for a specific NYIT school, and maps will be available on site.
- Graduates are individually recognized; diplomas, honors, and awards are conferred at each school commencement.
- School commencements begin at noon and will run approximately 90 minutes.*
- Upon arrival at the tent, students will be given directions for lineup and processional.
- Guests should proceed directly to the designated guest seating area. Tickets must be presented at each tent to gain admittance. Only guests with a ticket will be admitted. Each person requiring a seat will be counted as a ticket, including children. Seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
- The dean will open the ceremony, and graduates will proceed to the stage to be individually recognized by the dean and members of the school faculty.
- Professional photographers will attend each school commencement. During the ceremony, graduates will be photographed as they approach the stage. The photographers will contact graduates directly regarding the purchase of photographs.
- Guests must refrain from blocking the aisles in the tent.
