How to Request Tutoring

Students seeking tutoring must be enrolled at NYIT. Complete a Request for Tutor form, and turn it into the Learning Center on your campus. The center staff will review the form with you and discuss your tutoring needs and availability

You can request a tutor until the end of October for the fall semester and the first week of March for the spring semester. You should request tutoring early in the semester so that you will have a better chance of receiving tutoring in the requested course(s) at a time that is convenient for you. Requests for tutoring after the deadline will be considered, based on tutor availability, and you will be notified via your NYIT e-mail if your request can be filled.

Tutorial assignments are made by Learning Center graduate assistants, and every possible effort is made to match students with available tutors as soon as possible. However, requests for tutoring in upper-level courses or specialized courses may be more problematic to fill. Students and tutors are notified of tutorial assignment through their NYIT e-mail.

You should establish contact with your tutor as soon as you receive the e-mail assignment. If you have not contacted your assigned tutor within a week of assignment, the center will assume that you no longer need tutoring.
