What "Other" Grades Mean

There are several grades other than A, B, C, D, or F that you may receive in a course. They are:

PR (progress, re-enroll) means you have made progress, but you must retake the course to demonstrate satisfactory skills.

I (Incomplete) is assigned to students who have completed most of the course requirements but need extra time to finish a final project or exam. Incomplete grades must be agreed upon by the student and instructor.

IF (Incomplete, failing) is assigned to students who requested an incomplete grade and did not finish the coursework within the designated time framesor completed the course but failed.

W (Withdrawal): If you would like to drop a course, but the add/drop period has passed:

  • Tell your instructor that you would like to withdraw from the class
  • Your instructor will give you a withdrawal form to sign
  • Your advisor will sign it as well and hand it to the Office of the Registrar

Though a “W” grade does not affect your GPA, it may affect your financial aid. Always check with the Office of Financial Aid before withdrawing from a course.

This grade is assigned to students who request a withdrawal before the eighth week of the semester (or eighth class meeting of a cycle) or request a withdrawal after the eighth week of the semester (or eighth class meeting of a cycle), and are passing the course at the time

WF (Withdrawal, failing) is assigned to students who request a withdrawal after the eighth week of the semester (or eighth class meeting of a cycle), and are failing the course at the time or attend the course at least once and then stop attending the class.

A “WF” grade counts as an “F” in you GPA.
