Women's Basketball Earns Program's First National Ranking

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. (Jan. 29, 2013)  After three weeks of receiving votes in the USA Today Sports Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll, the NYIT women's basketball team cracked the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Top 25 for the first time in program history. The No. 25 ranking comes on the heels of the Bears tying the school record for most wins in a single season, 16 set in 2011-2012. NYIT is receiving 62 votes and has a 16-1 overall record.

"I am flattered that we made the Top 25," said head coach Anthony Crocitto. "We appreciate the votes and its great to see our athletes get noticed. We need to continue on with the successes of this season and let the chips fall where they may. I'm proud to be at NYIT and more proud of my student-athletes."
