Trendsetter in Online Education

NYIT is featured in an article in the July 21, 2008, issue of Crain's New York Business, titled, "More Colleges Go the Distance," which focuses on the acceleration of online education. "Led by such trendsetters as Pace, the New School, and New York Institute of Technology, local colleges and universities are embracing the Internet as a potent educational medium."

NYIT President Edward Guiliano discussed the dynamics of online education: "Online courses have great potential. They're more scalable and can be more economical than brick-and-mortar classes." In just two years enrollment in NYIT's full online program grew 14%, and enrollment in partly online courses grew 26%. Across the United States, online course enrollment has grown about 10% per year, while the overall student population has grown only 1.5% annually.
