Project 211 Students Begin Life in New York

New students from NYIT partner universities in China arrive at the Manhattan campus

New York, NY (Sept. 9, 2011)—Preparing to blaze new trails in the business world, more than 50 Chinese graduate students arrived at NYIT’s Manhattan campus for fall 2011 orientation.

Scott Liu, executive associate dean of the School of Management and Director of NYIT’s Center for International Business Studies, welcomed the newcomers and encouraged them to “grasp the opportunity to study and experience more” at the university.
The students, who began their studies at NYIT’s partner universities in China, represent seven of China’s prestigious Project 211 universities, which train top talent to lead the republic’s national, economic, and social development strategies. At NYIT, the new students from Fuzhou University, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Jinan University, Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics,  Shandong Institute of Business and Technology, and Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics will complete their graduate degrees  in business administration and architecture.
The Sept. 1-2 orientation included an introduction to the logistics of student life in New York, presented by Julie Fratrik, director of the Center for Global Academic Exchange. In addition, the Chinese Students Association and Chinese Business Students Association provided peer assistance over the two days and encouraged the new students to get involved in campus activities during their time at the university.
