NYIT Celebrates Entrepreneurship at Business Summit

New York, N.Y.  (March 30, 2012) ─  NYIT’s School of Management is hosting a celebration of entrepreneurship and a business networking summit for nearly 300 students and professionals.

The BizDen 2012 Business Summit, at the NYIT Auditorium on Broadway, will include a panel discussion with several business leaders and students, including Mike Yavonditte, founder and CEO at Hashable, a technology start-up.  Before and after the panel, students will have opportunities for 54-second elevator pitches to generate ideas for investments and get feedback on their concepts.
“I actually went in the elevator and counted the time,” said summit organizer, NYIT first-year student Arjun Rai.
Rai is leading efforts to establish a strong culture of entrepreneurship and business start-up development at the School of Management.  Early in the semester, he pitched the idea of a summit to Dean Jess Boronico and received approval to organize the event.  With a flurry of networking activity and persistence, Rai secured the five-member panel, sold tickets to hundreds of students, and enticed a mix of entrepreneurs and investors to attend.
“We want this to celebrate entrepreneurs, today and tomorrow, by discussing the future of  entrepreneurship, technology, social media and education,” said Rai.
The event is scheduled for April 4 from 5:30 pm – 8 pm.
