NYIT Students for a Day

Old Westbury and New York, N.Y. (March 8, 2011) – Six business students and one professor from the Shandong Institute of Business and Technology (SIBT) experienced NYIT’s New York campuses on March 7, as part of a Chinese delegation to American universities.

The students started their day in a microeconomics class in New York City, taught by Dr. Diamando Afxentiou, associate dean of management at NYIT. There, the guests were exposed to the interactive, hands-on approach to teaching and learning at NYIT. Following such observations, they compared teaching styles in America and China.

After exploring the Manhattan campus, the students traveled to Long Island to observe campus life in Old Westbury. They also learned about the different courses and programs offered at NYIT, including the M.B.A. program, to complement their undergraduate degrees in business from SDIBT.

Victoria Pfeiffer, special assistant to the president, Krzysztof Zaba, director of global and international admissions, and Julie Fratrik, director of the Center for Global Academic Exchange, introduced students to the different courses and programs offered at NYIT. They discussed the admissions process, financial aid information, and employment opportunities in the United States.

Students also learned about how the M.B.A. program at NYIT can complement their undergraduate degrees in business from SDIBT while dining with Scott Liu, Ph.D., associate dean for global programs in the School of Management and executive director of the Center for International Business Studies.
