NYIT Ranked in Top Tier of U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges 2013 Edition

Old Westbury, N.Y. (Sept. 14, 2012) – For the 15th consecutive year, New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) is ranked a top regional university by U.S. News & World Report, and, for the first time, is named among the top 50 universities in the north in the 2013 rankings. NYIT’s current U.S. News ranking reflects positive momentum in areas including student selectivity, average freshman retention rates and graduation rates, among others.

The Best Colleges rankings compare accredited four-year colleges and universities based on a set of up to 16 indicators of excellence. Among the factors weighed are peer assessment, graduation and retention rates, class size, faculty resources, student selectivity, and acceptance rate.

Additionally, NYIT’s School of Engineering and Computing Sciences was ranked among the top ABET-accredited engineering schools offering bachelor’s or master’s degrees.

The rankings were announced at www.usnews.com/colleges, and will be published in the 2013 Best Colleges guidebook.
