NYIT President Welcomes Class of 2015

Old Westbury, N.Y.  (September 6, 2011)  —  Globetrotting career opportunities, unforgettable professors, and an array of helpful services await NYIT’s newest students, NYIT President Edward Guiliano, Ph.D., said yesterday as he addressed the Class of 2015 in Old Westbury and Manhattan.

“An information-rich, digitally-saturated society puts a premium on people who can synthesize information from many sources and who have developed the ability to think critically, with breadth, depth, and insight about the world,” President Guiliano said in separate presentations to enthusiastic students at the Auditorium on Broadway in Manhattan and Old Westbury’s Riland Auditorium.

President Guiliano urged students to consider taking classes at NYIT’s global campuses or to enjoy an “experiential learning experience” during spring breaks or summer vacation.

“No doubt your future will be filled with surprises and unanticipated opportunities,” he said.  President Guiliano noted the career successes of several NYIT alumni, including Patricia Galloway, (M.B.A. ’84), who runs an engineering firm with projects in 100 countries and Robert Russo (B.S.  ’69), who created the iPad processor.

Zikomo Barr, Vice President of the Student Government Association at NYIT's Manhattan Campus, told students:  "We are a campus of global diversity, and with such diversity comes great responsibility—to have our voices heard.”
