NYIT Expert Offers Advice on the “Business of Getting into College”

jackie nealon

Old Westbury, N.Y. (March 14, 2013) -The benefits of getting a college education today are more significant than ever, helping contribute to one’s overall prosperity in terms of earnings potential, building character and confidence, and facilitating maturity and self reliance. However, the financial costs are also greater than ever. Do you have all of the information you need to choose (and pay for) the right college?

Join Jacquelyn Nealon, Ed.D., Vice President of Enrollment, Communications and Marketing at New York Institute of Technology (NYIT), as she offers guidance on the best ways for college-bound students to get the financial aid packages they deserve. Nealon is part of an expert panel that will assemble on March 23 in Manhattan to help students and their parents tackle this and other college admissions-related issues.
“I have more than two decades of professional experience in the areas of enrollment, admissions and financial aid, but perhaps more importantly, I have been through this as a parent,” Nealon explained. “Keep in mind that your financial strategies should mirror admissions strategies in terms of applying to ‘safety,’ ‘good match’ and ‘reach’ colleges. Make sure the wish list of colleges includes at least one or two that you can afford.”

Others on the panel include experts from Boston University, Montclair State University, New York University, and the education reporter from WCBS-AM news radio.
