NYIT Auditorium on Broadway Hosts 2012 New York Film Independent Spirit Awards

New York, N.Y. (January 9, 2012) – NYIT Auditorium on Broadway will screen a series of dramas, documentaries, comedies, and thrillers as host of the 2012 New York Film Independent Spirit Awards Screening Series. The film series will be held from Jan. 12 to Feb. 10 to honor American independent filmmakers and promote their films to a wider audience.

“NYIT is honored to host these world-class events, especially because we are a global university,” said NYIT President Edward Guiliano, Ph.D. “This is an ideal partnership, since our campus is located at the world’s most important intersection of business and the arts.”

The exclusive theatrical screening series is open to the NYIT community and is presented in partnership with the SAG Foundation, Independent Filmmaker Project, and Film Independent, the non-profit arts organization that produces the Los Angeles Film Festival and the Spirit Awards.

Now in its 27th year, the Film Independent Spirit Awards is an annual celebration honoring artist-driven films made with an economy of means by filmmakers who embody independence and originality.
