NYIT Athletics to Host Summer Camps for Children

Old Westbury, N.Y. -  (February 26, 2014) – With the summer season approaching, now is the time to plan where your children will attend summer camp. Starting on June 23, New York Institute of Technology’s (NYIT) Old Westbury campus will begin hosting its annual sports-specific summer camps. The camps available are: NYIT Baseball Future Stars Camp, open to boys and girls ages 7-14; NYIT Tennis Youth Camp for boys and girls ages 6 and up; NYIT Baseball Prospect Camp for boys in grades 10-12; NYIT Soccer Camp for boys and girls ages 8-17; NYIT Boys Lacrosse Camp for boys in grades 3-12; NYIT Women’s Soccer Camp for girls ages 8-12; NYIT Volleyball Camp for boys and girls in grades 3-12; NYIT Softball Camp for boys and girls ages 7-17; and NYIT Tennis Adult Lessons for those ages 18 and up.

Each intercollegiate sports program at NYIT will be involved in teaching campers the fundamentals that will help them succeed in their desired sport. Campers will receive high-level, sports-specific training in an engaging, fun, collegiate environment and will learn different skills by participating in drills, learn team work and how to communicate on the field, as well as learn to further play their desired sport. Each sport-specific camp will be directed by NYIT’s seasoned head coaches and NCAA Division I and II student-athletes.

“NYIT Athletics’ Summer Sports Camps will be enjoyable and fun learning experiences for campers of all ages,” said summer camp coordinator, Stephen Malvagna. “We offer a wide variety of programs with the mission to provide a great service to the community by instilling the qualities of NYIT Athletics-hard work, passion, and fun-into each and every camp program,” said Malvagna.

In addition to providing an athletic learning environment, NYIT will offer a safe, productive atmosphere for children to enjoy. A certified athletic trainer will be available at all times to assist in any health-related concerns that may occur;-furthermore, all coaches are CPR certified.

Each NYIT Athletics Summer Sports Camp will run for one week with the exception of NYIT’s Future Stars Baseball Camp, which will run three different one-week sessions, and the NYIT Volleyball Summer Camp, which will run two unique weeks for beginner and advanced levels. The sports-specific camps provide cost effective, in-depth training with sessions starting at $100 per camper.

The first of many one-week sessions starts with the NYIT Tennis Adult Lessons from June 23-27. The next camp begins with the first of three sessions of the NYIT Baseball Futures Stars Camp, July 7-11. The one week format was designed to avoid overlap and to allow families to enjoy summer vacations.
