Former NY Mayor Ed Koch Visits NYIT TV Studio

New York, N.Y. (June 17, 2011) – Former New York Mayor Ed Koch visited NYIT’s television studio at the Manhattan Campus for an interview this week.

Students from NYIT’s communication arts program helped set up lighting and high-quality equipment for production as the studio was transformed into a professional set for the interview, to be shown on television and the Internet. Professor Michael Banks arranged for the interview to be done in the studio.

Koch, 87, spoke about his passion for the arts, and his role as a politician. He served as mayor for three terms and a U.S. Representative for nine years.

The interview, which was conducted by Jay Nordlinger, senior editor of National Review, included a talk with Ignat Solzhenitsyn, conductor laureate of the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia. Solzhenitsyn, who was principal guest conductor of the Moscow Symphony Orchestra, is the son of Nobel Prize Winner for Literature Alexandr Solzhenitsyn.
