Employees Get the Scoop on NYIT

New York, N.Y. (July 20, 2011) –  Amid bowls filled with chocolate ice cream and strawberry sorbet, NYIT president Edward Guiliano, Ph.D., assured faculty and staff that “we have a strong future.”

At the annual Ice Cream Social in Manhattan, President Guiliano also said he hopes to improve communication and productivity within the university.

“NYIT is an evolving culture. Over the years, the university has evolved its curriculum, research, and talent,” he told more than 60 employees taking an afternoon break on Tuesday when temperatures soared into 90 degrees.

At the start of the event, President Guiliano broke the ice by reciting some frozen-dairy trivia. For example, it takes 50 licks to polish off a single scoop ice cream cone.

Employees asked the president about everything from new buildings on campus to future plans for specific departments and new administration.

The president will host another Ice Cream Social on the Old Westbury campus next Tuesday, July 26.
