Autism Speaks - NYIT Listens

Old Westbury and New York, N.Y. (April 1, 2011) – NYIT will “light it up blue” April 1 and 2, to kick off the second national Autism Speaks awareness campaign.

In communities around the world, individuals are joining together to raise awareness about autism and commemorate World Autism Day on April 2, by wearing blue clothing, shining blue lights, and organizing events.

The Community Service Center on the Manhattan campus will host a Take Action for Autism table from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, April 1, and Tuesday, April 4, in the lobby of 1855 Broadway. Stop by to trace a puzzle piece to send to Autism Speaks, get a pin, and find out how to get more involved.

At the Old Westbury campus on Tuesday, April 5, during free hour, autism awareness events in Salten Hall and the Student Activities Center include a take-action petition, tracing puzzle pieces, and a bake sale to benefit Autism Speaks.

NYIT is also using the blue theme in messaging around campus to build awareness for autism.
