Assistant to the Provost and Vice President
Name: Sheri Kelleher
Department: Office of Academic Affairs
Campus: Old Westbury
Why did you decide to join NYIT?
As a recent college graduate, I thought NYIT would be great place for me to start my professional career. A former NYIT colleague had encouraged me and said it was a "great place" to work.
What do you do at NYIT?
I work with the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Why do you like working here?
The best part about my job is the people I work with every day. I interact with many offices on all campuses and can't say enough about my colleagues. The positive atmosphere, stimulating challenges, and invigorating changes that are underway make every day at NYIT exciting.
What has been your favorite experience at NYIT so far?
I have had many good experiences at NYIT during the past few years. Some of my favorite have been working with the graduate assistants, advising students, and working with a wide variety of administrators and personnel. However, one of my fondest memories was playing in the NYIT softball game last year with my colleagues.
What is your favorite perk/benefit about working at NYIT?
Tuition remission. After completing my undergraduate degree in Business, I wanted to continue my studies and work toward my next degree. In 2006, I completed my Masters in Communication Arts here at NYIT.
What's been the biggest surprise about working at NYIT?
Working in the Office of Academic Affairs has given me opportunity to see and interact with many of our Global Campuses. It is very exciting to witness NYIT's global expansion and to watch NYIT become a name known all around the world.
